Preventing P Deficiency Following Flooding or Soil Saturation
Many fields may have flooded as a result of heavy spring rains, or have been saturated over the winter. Other fields have been purposely flooded to enhance winter waterfowl habitat. As the soils dry, phosphorus can be bound in forms that are not available for plant uptake. To overcome this problem, higher rates of phosphorus may need to be applied at or near planting time.
